Kim Marie Hedges
Originally an English and Communication dual major graduating Summa Cum Laude from Canisius College of Buffalo, New York, Kim Marie became a certified teacher to share her love of English/Literature studies and Language Arts with children of all ages. She has taught in the elementary and middle grades classrooms for over 15 years, implementing and facilitating a creative literature and grammar curriculum for her classes in both public and private school systems in Georgia, Florida, and Texas. Kim Marie has tutored over 20 years from Pre-K through high school students, specializing in reading comprehension, grammar, writing, and literary analysis.
With the little ones, she loves using alphabet manipulatives to help younger children recognize and write uppercase and lowercase letters and know their sounds. With early readers Kim Marie uses sentence-building techniques to focus on words and their meanings. With older students she teaches good, old-fashioned English grammar to understand parts of speech as well as sentence structure. Middle and High School students benefit from her teaching techniques in reading and writing strategies, as well as study skills. Analyzing reading passages with students and writing college essays are included in Kim Marie’s teaching repertoire, as well as test-preparation for students getting ready to take the ACT and other standardized tests.
Outside of tutoring, Kim Marie enjoys reading, learning about history (especially the World War II era), watching mystery movies, and spending true quality time with her family. She has lived in Georgia for 21 years with her husband, to whom she has been married for almost 27 years, and has a son in college and a daughter in high school.
